Hello,
I installed a trial version of Confluence on my PC, but my computer started working really slow. I want now a server version because then I can use more apps from marketplace. But I have no experience with installing on servers. So I'm from Belgium, can someone recommend a hosting-company where I can try or hire some space to put on confluence? What kind of server (Linux?)? Is it difficult if you have no experience with servers?
Second question: installed on server, does confluence work then also on every smartphone?
thank you!
Pieter-Jan
Also , try using those free Linux servers that you get from AWS - not sure how much resources they could allocate under free category.
I run on 8GB - both JIRA and Confluence, well it's Windows 10 and for my personal use. But if it just for testing you can start from your machine.
For a fullfledged Production Env I am sure you will provision new servers.
Confluence and Syncrony processes consume different memory allocations so I'd suggest a minimum of 4GB.
For now, you can turn off Collaborative Editing ( Syncrony) in your current machine and see if it improves performance.

I have a core i5 4400 (quite old), with 12 GB ram.
Installed confluence here on my PC, doesn't slow.
It takes you 1GB RAM when it runs.
I think that with 16GB RAM you can do your tests, before migrate to a windows server edition or on the cloud

Hello @Pieter-Jan Vanhoutte,
if you're not familiair with server administration you should look into Atlassian Cloud: https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/pricing
You won't need to handle any of the installation or configuration of the server as they provide an instance that's ready to use.
Have a look at the documentation, I think it should suits you well: https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/atlassian-cloud-documentation-744721592.html
Let me know if it helps,
--Alexis
