integrating jira and confluence

I just installed a new instance of confluence and wanted to try to integrate it with our existing JIRA installation; however, the documentation looks like I need to configure confluence to talk to JIRA while I'm doing the initial install?  Can anyone point me to documentation that will walk me through integration after both JIRA and confluence are already up and running?

Basically you need to setup application links between JIRA and Confluence.
