Hi

I have a question regarding the testing phase of a migration.

Scenario:

  • You test migrate on Confluence Version 7.19.9
  • Now you update or patch the version from 7.19.9 to 7.19.11

→ Is this possible without heavy implications on the test migration results? Do this minor updates interfere with the migration results so you need to start a whole new testing phase with test migrations on the new version?

Just asking in order to have a plan when we need to apply a security patch during the testing phase for example.

@adrian_voigt

Ideally, you'd keep everything the same for best results. I think practically it is unlikely to have a real impact on your migration. As long as you leave the CCMA and other plugin versions the same I'd be surprised if there was an impact.

That being said, it IS possible that an upgrade could impact the migration, so I think that moving forward with it depends on your risk tolerance.

Which security hole are you trying to patch? I reviewed the bugs fixed in the 7.19.10/11 and none of them are listed as critical.

@adrian_voigt It is alway a good practice to do a test migration with the current version of your Confluence even if it is a minor one. This will help you to find and address any unexpected results and it will also help you to measure the timing when you are doing production environment.
