notifications to the watchers despite the flag is not checked

Hi

i don't know why but every time a page on my confluence server is edited a notification mail is sent to all watchers despite the flag "notify watchers" is not checked. 

i can turn off notification for the space but i don't want to do that!

i want the notification are sent when the flag is checked and are not sent when is not checked.

anyone have idea how to know what's happening on my confluence?

Hello Paolo,

That should not be happening.

Can I know what changes were made to the page when the notifications are sent out?

There was a known issue before version 5.5, where if attachments are added during the edit, the users are still notified, even if the "notify watchers" option is not checked.

If the changes include user mentions, or changes to task involving a certain user, then notifications are still sent to those users, but not the whole watch list.

Do let me know what version of Confluence you are on as well.

hello Sattesh,

we have a 5.9.4 confluence, the change was on simple update without any attachment, tasks or mentions.

in most of the case the page contains only 3 dot line "..." .

if you want more details you can ask me obviously!

Hello Paolo,

I just looked at this again, and it looks like I was wrong.

Emails are still sent out to "Group Space Watchers", even if the "Notify watchers" option is un-ticked.
Un-checking the "Notify watchers" option, will not send emails to any "page" watchers alone, but if the users is watching the entire Space, then they will be sent notifications regardless.

There is an enhancement ticket which was created by a user below, who seems to had hit into the same issue as us.

They wanted to still watch the Space, or certain pages in the Space, but since un-ticking the Notify watchers" option still sends out emails to Space watchers, they wanted an option to "un-watch" specific pages, while still being able to watch the rest of the pages in that Space.

• Ability to unwatch a specific page, but still watch rest of pages in the same space
