page.owner.emailAdress not returning a value

Hello, 

I'm currently facing a strange problem - when I use the smart value {{page.owner.emailAdress}}, it doesn't return any value on some pages. 

To troubleshoot I created this automation rule but I can't see why it sometimes works and other times it doesn't:

So this should just log the values for the page owners and content owners email adress, but it always returns empty except if I use it on pages owned by me.

Is there some restriction on who can access these values or could it be that the mail address is missing on some accounts? 
If that makes any difference, I'm one of our admins and do have access to all this data and can't see anything missing or different when looking at the different user accounts.

Did anyone come across a similar issue or have an idea, what could be the issue?

Hey there @Koloman Pfeffer ,

The {{page.owner.emailAddress}} Smart Value seems correct as per Smart values in Confluence automation.

You may be getting empty results if the page owner has restricted visibility over their email address from the Profile and visibility menu:

The available options are:

  • Anyone
  • Organization
  • Only you and admins

The first two options should allow you to check user's emails, but the 3rd option depends if your user has Admin access or not.

As you mentioned being an Admin, this visibility parameter is probably not being respected and we'll need to review this with our Development Team. We noticed there's a Suggestion created for that:

  • CONFCLOUD-78945Ability to use Smart value {{user.emailAddress}} in Confluence automation regardless account's email visibility

We'll investigate this further and open a Bug if needed.

Thanks for the answer and confirming, that it should most probably work as I would have expected.

Just to be sure, I'll check with the users, if they restricted the visibility of their email address in their personal account settings. I also voted for the suggestion you posted, thanks for that!

For the pages it is not returning any Page owner email address, can you check and confirm if those owners are still active?

Thanks for your answer, yes, all owners are still active, we also have a rule running, that periodically updates all page owners, so we don't have too many inactive page owners.

But it might just be a bug, as stated in the answer above.
