Hello all,
I would like to ask a question about an issue a Confluence user is facing.
When user tries to save some changes in a Confluence page, the following message always appears:
Could you help me with this error?
Kind regards,
Iro
Improvement of error message in confluence
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-55478
Summary: When customer hit into an issue editing a page or saving a page, the error message that shows to the customer are "Unable to communicate with server. Saving
is not possible at the moment". However, this could cause confusion to the customer as the root cause of the issue is caused by a page containing some special characters.
Can someone please let me know what this bug means?

The log file tells me that you're using MySQL on the back-end, and your users have put emojis (or other standard-but-not-quite characters) in the body of the page they are
trying to save. MySQL does not support them normally, and hence crashes out with this sort of error.
Either swap to Postgres (MySQL can handle them with config settings, but those settings are not supported by Atlassian, so I can't recommend you do that), or tell your
users to stop using silly characters.
Hi @Iro Karavasili,
Can you please check if the Collaborative editing is turned ON or off? If you are getting any error message in the atlassian-confluence.log file, then please share it.
Thanks,
Amith Mathur
