reference from a "minutes of meeting" page a file that is already in a file list (same space)

Riccardo Fanciulli December 13, 2018

I have no problem referencing from a confluence page to files contained in a file list.

However, when I try doing that in a page of "minutes of meeting", I cannot do it. the controls are different and the link control only seems to allow me to refer to pages and not existing files.

A way around that was to go to the file list, right-click on the file, copy the link and paste that link in the minutes page (also as a link). The problem with this is that it's always going to point to the file version I had at the time of pasting the link.

My question: why would the control be different for a minutes page and can we overcome this problem?

Riccardo,

Can you clarify exactly which macro you're trying to insert in the Meeting Notes page?

We've made some changes in our editor, and you can type / to show a list of available macros.

If you type "Attachments" you could get a list of attachments on a page, for example.

Can you tell me what you need to display in your file list? Are you trying to display a list of pages that link to the meeting notes page, or something else?

Shannon,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I think what I'm trying to do is much simpler than what you're thinking.

1. I have file XYZ.doc in a file list.

2.

CASE A: I'm editing a requirements page and I want to link a word to file XYZ.doc
I click on the chain symbol and a page "Insert Links" pops up with various options, among which, I can also search in all spaces or a specific one, I start typing and any matches among pages and files are shown.

CASE B: I'm editing a page of minutes and I want to link a word to file XYZ.doc.
I click on the chain symbol and now I don't get the "Insert Links" page anymore, but a much more basic menu also with some search capability, but it appears to only search among the pages and not the files. Therefore, I cannot easily link to XYZ.doc.

Why is there such a difference between requirements pages and minutes pages? Can't I have the links working in the minutes pages as they do in the requirements pages?

I hope now it's clearer.

Thanks

Hi Riccardo,

I understand. Let me check with the content experience team to see if we have any information regarding this feature.

Riccardo,

Thank you for all of your patience.

I've created a feature request to bring back the functionality, but I was also able to work with one of my colleagues to find a workaround.

The feature request is available below:

For the workaround, I would add the attachments macro first to the page, and copy the URL of the attachment.

You can do this by right-clicking either the name of the attachment (if you want the link to download) or the Preview option when expanding (if you want to link to a preview).

Then, when using the Link macro, simply paste the URL of the link you copied, and it will go straight to the attachment.

Let me know if you have any trouble, but please do vote on the feature request above and comment with your usage case.

Regards,

Shannon
