i read the documentation and created a new global blueprint for a space. but when i try to create a space , this newly added one doesn't show in the list.
am i missing something? i want to know if this is possible without any add-ons?

In step one of Write a simple Confluence Space Blueprint you edited the src/main/resources/atlassian-plugin.xml. The info box mentions "the section='system.create.space.dialog/content' attribute is what makes the dialog available in the create space popup."
If you did not restart your instance after changing the file, Confluence will not have picked up the changes to the web-item for the create space dialog that you added to the file. Could that be the issue?
It is possible to have a custom Space blueprint without any add-ons. :)
