text style in confluence

David Darbinyan February 7, 2018

When writing a page in confluence one can select style for the text from a limited choice (paragraph, heading1,..., preformated, quote) of drop-down menu.

is it possible to create new or  edit mentioned styles  ?

thanks

David

Hi David,

You could write a User Macro and include it as a macro there, or style with CSS, both providing you're on the Server version of Confluence.

If you're in Cloud then it may require an add-on, but I'm not aware of any specific ones that will do that. I've tagged your question as a Marketplace App question as well so if any users know of some add-ons that can help you with that, they will be able to answer here.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Shannon

Hi David,

You sure can!

On the article I sent you, Writing User Macros, there are some example macros at the bottom that show you how to style your text (including font size and color) and this question below shows you how to specify a font or font-family:

For example:

## @noparams
<span style="font-family: EversonMono;">⋮</span>

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Shannon,

it's not working for me. see below:

## @Param 0:title=colour|type=string
## @Param 1:title=size|type=string
## @Param 2:title=font-family: EversonMono|type=string

<span style="color: $param0; font-size: $param1; font-family: EversonMono: $param2">$body</span>

Can you please correct if it is wrong. i want font style should be come with option same like MS word doc, excel.

Rajinder,

I'm not actually very familiar with this myself, but it looks like you used a colon and not a semi-colon in your example after the name of the font.

Also you want to be careful when using an external font like that, because if the user doesn't have the font on their computer then it won't display. If you were to use a web safe font, does it work? It will call the font from the user's computer or browser, but not from Confluence itself.
