Hi 

If I would like to clean trash automatically, would it be possible to pass the step to clean trash automatically? I mean when I click purge button, it will clean it automatically. Thanks a lot.

You can find some apps in marketplace that prune trash pages, I think Scriptrunner for Confluence has a JOB that implement this solution eg: Automatically purge all trash on the first day of the month

You won't have this app available at your version.

Confluence 4.2.3 was released on 2012, and in this case I recommend you to upgrade your instance.

Not only for the possibility of using this feature with Scriptrunner but to have all the new features, performances and security improvements delivery through out these years. And trust me, the upgrade is worthy.
