uft 8 bin collation

In Confluence Administration, (Menu : Administration -> Support Tools - Instant Health)
I saw the message

  'Collation'

      -> checks if the collation used by the tables, columns and database defaults in your MySQL database is correct.

       -> change character set to utf8_bin

So I changed the character set to utf8_general_ci.

Is it a must to change character set to utf8_general_ci ?

If it is difficult to change, what is the result?

Hi! 

It is need a more window time for change collation. 

1. You have already documentation how to change it.
2. Just switch off your confluence 
3. Just do backup
4. Next step is follow by docs steps: https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/how-to-fix-the-collation-and-character-set-of-a-mysql-database-670958160.html
5. Review dbconfig.xml
6. Switch on confluence
7. That's all

In fact, collation will be affacted for search indexes, and for some plugins. Hence it will be nice, if you change it.

If you have concern, just repeat it on test environment.
