Hi!

Does anyone know if the newly released "Atlassian Performance Testing Framework" will work to test older versions of Confluence?

https://bitbucket.org/atlassian/elastic-experiment-executor/overview

For instance Confluence 5.5.7? :)

And would it work against an existing server or only a server that the framework itself spins up?  It's hard to tell and not well defined.

Performance optimization is something most Confluence customers look to capitalize on so any advancements or new tools in this area are always exciting.

thanks!

Brendan

Hi Brendan,

The Performance Testing Framework is only available to use with Confluence v6.1 and above. It is not compatible with any earlier versions.

As for running it, for now you can only use it against the new stack that it spins up in the amazon cloud. However, moving forward (hopefully very soon) it will be enhanced to work with existing infrastructure (such as staging environments etc).

We encourage you to keep using this tool and reach out to the community for help and feedback!

Hi Usman,

We have been looking for compatibility information and you are the only one to state that the PTF is only compatible with Conf v6.1+.  Is this official?  It's a lot of work getting the framework setup and we would like to know if it will even work or not since we are at Conf v5.10.8.

Can anyone else confirm this or update the docs with a Compatibility section including version info?

Thank you

Glad to hear you are active in optimizing performance on your instance.

The overview you linked mentions that one use of the Performance Testing Framework is to compare versions so it should work with older versions.

It looks like your infrastructure can be separate. Please note the testing is only ready for Confluence Data Center and not the standalone server:

"Currently, the Performance Testing Framework can run experiments on Bitbucket Server, Bitbucket Data Center, and Confluence Data Center. All compute infrastructure can be provisioned automatically in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud. Bitbucket Server and Data Center additionally support running experiments on external infrastructure."
