Setup: The jira.home directory is locked

The jira.home directory /var/atlassian/application-data/jira is locked by another running instance of JIRA. Your jira.home directory can only be used by one running JIRA instance.
Review our documentation for more information on setting your JIRA home.

Hi @Divya,

Please see the links shared below to understand the cause and also to find the resolution to the JIRA home directory lock issue.

Causehttps://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/jira-applications-are-locked-224400783.html

Resolutionhttps://confluence.atlassian.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=231932719

As you are looking for a Linux environment solution you should follow the below instructions.

Linux:

  1. CD to the JIRA Home directory
  2. Run ls -al
  3. Run rm .jira-home.lock

However, try to check the document to get a clear understanding of the cause of the issue.

Hope this helps!!

Regards,

Priyanka

As Priyanka says, go through the docs first.  When you have worked out where the problem is, then make sure all Jira processes have been shut down before you remove the lock file.
