configuration and licensing of three products: JIRA, Crucible and Fisheye

Hello,

I would like to ask about possible configuration of three products: JIRA, Crucible and Fisheye.

here is the situation in our company:

- We already have JIRA 500 users - this is the backbone of the company for all departments

- We would like to have Crucible - but only for Development - say 50 users

(I know that SOMEHOW Fisheye is part of the Crucible but I am not sure how as it has it's own licensing. Is it only some backend support? How does it differ from the standalone Fisheye?)

- MAYBE We would like to use Fisheye - but only for its searching capabilities - so may be only for anonymous users - no need to connect with user profile - just to be able to search in code, see commits, diffs.

What is the recommended configuration / licencsing, what do we need to purchase?

Fisheye and Crucible are built into a single product names Fecru. You need separate licenses for them though but you can use one without the other. It is up to you whether you need Fisheye or not but you can certainly have a 50 user license to work with 500 user JIRA license if that is all you need.

If you want Fisheye, only with anonymous search capabilities, you might as well get a 10 user license.

Just to clarify: there is no such product as Fecru.

FishEye and Crucible are distributed as one download, but are still two applications.
It depends on the license/s you enter which functionality is unlocked: only FishEye, only Crucible, or both FishEye and Crucible.

People using both FishEye and Crucible often refer to it as FeCru, just to avoid having to type the full name every time.

But is it possible to have 50 user Crucible and 10 user Fisheye (anonymous search) in one installation?

Or should we have Crucible and separate installation of Fisheye?

@Milan Here is the catch.

If using Crucible along with FishEye (in all cases), your FishEye license must have an equal or greater number of users in order to be compatible with Crucible.

Reading the licencing page, as Jobin pointed out, the key phrase is "If using Crucible along with FishEye (in all cases)"

What if you had two installs of fecru on two different servers, not connected, not working together? One had a 10 user Fisheye licence and anonymous access. The other had 50 user licence and no Fisheye. I guess it would be kind of pointless as you'd lose a lot of that joint functionality and the extra hosting costs would outweight the cost of the extra licence. There'd also been an increased admin overhead adding to the "real" cost.

It would be easier to pay the relatively small amount of money and have the full features. Interesting thought experiment though ;-)
