why we are adding git repository to crucibleand also mapping to the project?what is the advantage here?

we used to get requests like adding Git repos to fisheye/crucible and mapping the repo  to proejct?

i am new to this 

Please any one can explain what is the mechanism behind this?

If you add a repository to a project then it becomes a default repository when creating a review in this project. Thanks to this, users don't have to select a repository from a drop-down while adding changesets / branches to the review.

I guess that you host your Git repositories on Bitbucket Server - am I correct?

Please bear in mind the difference between Bitbucket Server and FishEye/Crucible:

• Bitbucket Server is primarily a Git hosting tool - you can manage repositories, define permissions etc; on top of it it has some search features and you can perform code reviews for pull requests
• FishEye and Crucible do not host Git repositories - they just "read" them; 
  • FishEye indexes the entire repository giving you great search possibilities - much more powerful than Bitbucket - you can search for file names, diffs, file contents, commit messages etc
  • Crucible is a sophisticated code review tool - you can fine-tune content of the review - e.g. select particular changesets or files and much more
