Looking for JIRA Connector Troubleshooting Guidance

We've implemented the JIRA <--> JIRA Align interface for several (approx. 50) teams but I've got some that I'm not able to reliably integrate and I'm looking for tips / guidance on how to best troubleshoot these situations.

Completed:

  • Sprints etc. are properly set up for the teams in JA.
  • JIRA Sprints are correct with dates in alignment with Anchor Sprints.
  • Most date is flowing from JIRA into JIRA Align for these teams.
  • Unique issue types are mapped in JIRA Settings panel

Problems:

  • Some issues in JIRA are not imported into JA (they never get the JA link within their JIRA Tickets either). The problematic issues ARE associated with the unique issue types that are correctly mapped in the settings panel.
  • I'm seeing this on approx. 10 new teams that I've recently added.

What are the suggested steps for continuing to investigate these issues?

I suggest forcing a sync from Jira to Jira Align.  Add a label to the problem stories/issues in Jira, save, wait a few mins.  I recommend deciding on creating 2 labels: Admin_Sync_to_Align and Admin_Sync_to_Jira for consistent future use, but really any label will do.

Also, if you haven't run the project/board integration yet, now would be a great time to do that.  Go to Jira Settings, Jira Integration, and add the Project, Board, and a JQL: labels= Admin_Sync_to_Align

Another thing to check is your state mapping on the project in question. In Jira Settings, Projects. Under process step mappings, be sure the toggle is green, choose your Work Item Type, and then choose preload and update. If preload and update does not work, it means you have problems in your mapping.

Also, check your Jira Board column mappings.  If there is a  story with a status in the unmapped column, it will not sync to JA.  Map the status to the columns and see if that fixes it.

Are the problematic issues coming from different Jira Projects then the Projects that contain the Stories?  One way to check is looking at the issue key (STORY-1 vs SPIKE-3).  If so, validate that those other Projects are mapped to Jira Align.
