As of the present time, it appears the only method to track/report milestone is via the roadmap. This displays the milestones using colored coded stars to represent the progress. It there a more detailed report that I might be missing and/or is planned in a future release to provide a report that displays a more detailed report of the progress of a milestone?
Thanks

Hi @Brian Allen 👋
Welcome to the Community!
Thanks for your question — you’re absolutely right that milestones are currently visualized on the Roadmap using color-coded stars. This provides a good high-level view, but I agree it can be limiting if you're looking to generate detailed reports on milestone progress.
At the moment, Jira doesn’t offer native milestone reporting beyond the roadmap visualization. However, there are a few ways you might enhance milestone tracking:
Custom Filters & Dashboards: If you label your milestone issues consistently (e.g., with a specific label or custom field), you can use JQL to create filters and add gadgets like issue statistics, pie charts, or two-dimensional filters on a dashboard.
Advanced Roadmaps (Premium): If you're on Jira Premium, Advanced Roadmaps offers more flexibility, including the ability to track milestones within plans and filter progress across multiple teams and projects.
Third-party apps: Marketplace apps like Time Metrics Tracker| Time Between Statuses can provide more granular tracking and reporting on milestone progress, including lead time, cycle time, and even timeline-based analytics.
As of now, Atlassian hasn’t announced any built-in enhancements specifically targeting milestone reporting in Jira Software, but the ecosystem is always evolving. I’d recommend watching the Jira Cloud Roadmap for updates or submitting a feature request via Jira's public issue tracker.
Hope this helps — and if you're open to using add-ons, happy to suggest one tailored to your team's workflow.

Hey @Brian Allen .. to the best of my knowledge, apart from the ability for milestones to be shown on Jira Align roadmaps, believe the other out of the box report that displays them is status report, when you click on the work item on the status report & it shows all the attributes associated with that work item
Having said that, the data pertaining to milestones is available via Enterprise Insights (this is available to all existing JA customers & is included as part of the core JA licensing costs) - which can then be hooked into either Atlassian analytics (if you are on the enterprise cloud licensing tier) or other tools like Power BI etc. to produce any bespoke custom reports, just around milestones, various categories related to milestones, health, missed milestones etc. etc.
Am assuming you are aware of Enterprise Insights? if not, it is a backend database that stores the Jira Align data into a structured format that can be queried by other BI tools
At this point in time, have not seen anything on the product roadmap that is publicly available explicitly calling out the availability of any report that is available out of the box regarding milestones in Jira Align
Hope this helps?

Hi @Brian Allen ,
Do you consider the end of a sprint as a milestone? If so, you can consider the app I developed - Multi-team Scrum Metrics & Retrospective for analytics, tracking any metric - including custom ones constructed via JQL, in-place retrospections and much more:
Best regards,
Alexey
