Why is the PI defaulting to the previous PI, instead of the current PI?

The way the PI is selected on initial load of a page (such as the ART Room or the ART Board, etc...) is derived from the dates of the PIs from inside the PI Object.
If your PI Dates overlap, the system will default to both of them on initial load of a page.
It is all based upon the dates of the PI from the PI Object.
If you would provide a screen shot of your PI's page for the ARTs where you are seeing this, I can look at the dates.
It should look something like this:
