Hi All,

I am looking for an app that would be easy for my team to track time in and could automate with an accounting system.  We are manually doing A/R right now, and want to upgrade to something more streamlined.

Hi, @Clare Lawson! 👋

If you're aiming to automate time tracking with your accounting system, in most cases, you’ll need to set up a connection between the time tracking app and the accounting software yourself. That’s pretty standard, since every team’s stack is a bit different.

We’ve built JetTime with this in mind — it’s a privacy-first, fully integrated time & cost tracking app that Runs on Atlassian. JetTime includes a clean API, so you can easily pull time entries and push them wherever you need (including your accounting system).

Important note when choosing a solution: All worklog data — including custom fields — is stored directly in the Jira API, so there's no vendor lock-in. You can switch tools or build your own workflows anytime without losing access to your data.

And the UI is simple enough for teams to actually use it without training. 😊

JetTime is free for up to 10 users, and after that, the price is just USD 0.30 per user per month, making it an affordable solution for teams of any size.

Hi,

If you search marketplace for "Timesheet" you will find a variety of applications. Since you want to integrate with your accounting system, it's essential to choose an app that provides extensive support for third-party applications, REST API, and scripting. Our timesheet app, WorklogPRO, offers a range of integration capabilities, such as REST/GraphQL API, import/export to CSV of timesheet or worklogs, and extensive scripting support.
Another important consideration is vendor lock-in. Some apps store worklogs in their proprietary formats, which can become a challenge if you decide to switch to a different app or uninstall the current one. Our app, WorklogPRO, addresses this issue by storing worklogs in Jira using a standard format, ensuring that you won't face this problem.

PS: I work for the vendor of this app.

Very good point about vendor lock-in 👍

I haven't used it, but have heard good things about these apps:

You might also just take a look at the apps and reviews here (currently sorted by top-rated)!

Many offer a free trial period, too!

Interested to hear what others say and what you end up using.

Dear @Clare Lawson

With Gadget Utilities For Jira Cloud (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1224553?tab=overview&hosting=cloud) you can create a Dashboard with Worklog Report Gadget.

This gadget shows worked hours in a filter of issues, you can show the information daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly and group by worklog author, project, priority or any other field in your issues

About the automate with your accounting system we recomend you to use the REST API in order to get, create, update or delete worklogs (https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/rest/v2/api-group-issue-worklogs/#api-group-issue-worklogs)

Hope this helps
