Hi Atlassian Community,

I’m currently managing content for my mobile gaming site Traffic Rider Unlimited Money, and I’ve been using Confluence to draft and organize game descriptions, updates, and mod changelogs. However, I’ve run into a frustrating issue:

Whenever I edit a Confluence page that contains multiple images or embedded media (such as screenshots or gameplay GIFs), those images often duplicate upon saving, even when I make no changes to the media or surrounding text. The duplication is sometimes exponential, and it inserts extra backslashes and newline characters between the images — leading to layout breakage and messy formatting.

I’ve noticed this usually happens when:

  • The content is pasted from an external rich text editor.

  • The page includes inline media next to bullet points or code blocks.

  • Autosave is triggered before manual edits are complete.

I've tried switching to source (markup) mode and manually cleaning up repeated tags, but the duplication still returns after saving again.

Has anyone experienced this in recent Confluence builds or cloud versions?

  • Is there a workaround to prevent embedded media from duplicating on edit?

  • Could this be related to browser-specific rendering or a known Confluence bug?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Akash Bhatti welcome to the community! Based on the description of your issue, this appears to be a Confluence issue, not a Jira Mobile App issue.  Is that correct?  If so, are you using Confluence Cloud? Do you know what type of Confluence license do you have? I took a quick look at Atlassian's Jira SIte and couldn't find any specific work items related to this workflow that I could find but I may be missing something. Do you have a specific example you can use to recreate the behavior?  I tried recreating your issue and couldn't. It's very possible I'm missing something.

It could also be browser dependent.  Are there other people experiencing this same behavior at your site?
