I have users in the user group that aren't able to be "creators" in JDP.

I can add them as a creator - but then say they don't have the license.

Help is appreciated.

If the project access is:

  • "Open", everyone will have access to the project and anyone with a JPD license will be able to act as a "Creator" within the project
  • "Limited", everyone will have access to the project, however only those that you specifically designate to the "Creator" role will have the ability to act as Creators within the project
  • "Private", only users you specify to roles within the project will have access to it

If you have users that are not licensed to Jira or JPD, then you will need to add them to the "jira-product-discovery-contributors" group. You can then apply the "Contributors" role to this group within the project.

This will give those users access to the project, but, as they are not in the "Creators" role (because they aren't licensed to JPD), they won't be able to perform "Creator" level actions. Basically, they will have the ability to create ideas (not edit them) and have visibility within the project.
