The problem is that someone may mention you in the beginning in an issue under comments and then two months later you still see notifications even though you are no longer involved.
Same case if you have commented on an issue sometime in oct and you are still receiving notification in dec even though you are no longer involved or tagged.

If a user is mentioned in a comment, they won't receive notifications from other comments. However, if they were a reporter, assignee or something similar then they would continue to get notifications. We're working on introducing the capability, to disable notifications in this scenario. It will behave like Watchers in Jira Software and integrate better into the Notifications (bell icon in the top right corner of your Jira Product Discovery window).

I suggest that anyone that is added to the custom field type "@people" be automatically added as a watcher or this new bell icon feature
