Merge items as an Insight?

We have many collection points for feedback and ideas and need the ability to merge an item as an Insight versus its contents being absorbed via the current merge capability.

When will this be an option?

Does anyone have any suggestions for this making the conversion to an insight a little less overhead and more admin/user friendly?

Alternatively, If everything could be created as an insight then converted to an Idea, that would work, too.
