Target start date not populating in plans

Hello there,

I have set up an automation to have epics target start date (custom field) updated in line with the target fix version. However, this target start date is not then showing in plans.

Is there a way for plans to be updated with this date? If so, how?

Thanks!

Hi @Alice Mason,

Where are you expecting to see the date reflected? Are you not seeing it filled out in the target start date custom field? Are you expecting to see it as the starting point of the timeline bar in the roadmap visualisation? Are you using different scenarios in your plan?

Also: are you on cloud or data center? Since you tagged your question as related to Jira Discovery (JPD), I am assuming you're on cloud, but since plans is not a JPD feature, just making sure ...

By default, the schedule uses start date and due date as start and end points for the bars. You can change that in plan settings > scheduling. But if you do, be aware that the basic timelines in your Jira projects use start date / due date as well and so you might end up with inconsistent visualisations if you do so across plans and the default Jira views.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Walter Buggenhout

I'm not seeing it in Target start on plans (see screenshots) the timeline bar is showing, however the date is not correct and I'm not using scenarios yet.

I tagged it in the wrong place, this is nothing to do with JPD, we're using data center.

And I have changed the plan setting...Screenshot 2025-05-14 090023.pngScreenshot 2025-05-14 090716.png
