how to change status when delivery item is created?

Hi JPD community,

I would like to use an automation in a Jira product discovery project for the following flow:

WHEN a new discovery work item is linked to the current Idea, or created from the current idea

THEN current idea status moves to "CONVERTED TO EPIC"

I created the following automation, but the status remains unchanged when a delivery item is linked / created to the Idea.

Any suggestion ?

Hi Etienne, 

The first troubleshooting action I can think of would be that you create this rule in the project, when it actually involves two projects. Can you please try to create the rule under  *Global automation* - you need Jira admin privileges.

Hello @Etienne Dodu ,

To help better understand your problem can you confirm below items:

• Check the audit log of the automation rule to ensure it is running with errors or if it wasn't triggered.
• Ensure the rule actor has the necessary permissions to transition issues and link items across projects - sometimes there are problem where the rule can't run with the default rule actor, and only works when you switch to an user with Global Admin permissions: if this happens you might see error on auditlog: "No transitions were performed by this user."

I hope these two steps help in identifying and fixing your problem.
