Hi, 

I would like to know how the vote counter works.

for example I give 10 votes per person. they use them.

is the counter reset? for example if the voted idea is archived or deployed?

The "Votes" field in Jira Product Discovery (JPD) was optimized for point-in-time voting: you share a view to a list of people, you give them a budget, and they allocate this budget among a list of ideas. It's meant to be used as a way to start the right conversations (which isn't so much the number of votes but why people think X vs Y is important). It's a great tool to get a pulse when starting a new quarter for example, to know where everyone (sales, support, leadership) stands - before starting the more in-depth conversations.

There is a lot of feedback on this feature, and in my opinion the feature is also not great because on how it is designed to work like "point-in-time" voting only. Let's hope that they improve voting quickly and open it up for more use cases in JPD.

Thanks Mart. Yes we do need to revisit the jobs of voting. The current solution works great for some teams, and other teams really don't like it 🙂
