Changed to filters in team-managed software boards

We're making it easier to find the work that matters most in your team-managed software project boards with an improved filtering experience!

What’s new?

  • A new home for filters – We've redesigned where and how you apply filters, making them
  • Filter by Status and Priority – Quickly refine your board view by filtering tasks based on their status and priority, so you can focus on what’s most important.

  • Parent filter replaces Epic filter - We’ve swapped the Epic filter with a more flexible Parent field to allow you to filter by any parent level in your board's hierarchy, not just Epics.

  • Expanded search scope – The search box now includes custom text fields, making it even easier to find what you need.

  • Keyboard shortcuts – Use Shift + F to open or close the filter panel at any time. Press Esc to close the panel in a snap.

Why the change?

This is just the first step toward a more powerful and consistent filtering experience in Jira! Our goal is to help .

As we explored support for additional fields, we saw an opportunity to align with the existing pattern used in business projects filtering, helping us deliver a cleaner, more scalable experience that sets the foundation for future enhancements.

What’s next?

We’re working on adding support for more fields and expanding filters to additional Jira views. Our goal is to make it even easier to find, organise, and manage your work, so keep an eye out for more updates in the coming months!

Try it out and share your feedback

Will this, and if so how, impact DC migrations? Thanks

On the Board view (Kanban board with Backlog enabled) when attempting to use the new Parent filter you cannot select/specify a level 0 issue (issues that have subtasks) unless the board Group is set to Subtasks. Only Epics are available to select and only Epic keys can be manually entered when the board Group is not Subtasks.

The feature is available only on the Board view. Is part of the expanding to additional Jira views going to include making this available on Backlog screens and in Company Managed projects?
