🥇We’re merging List and All work – one powerful view for all teams

List and All Work become one

We’re simplifying how you manage work in Jira.

You may have noticed that List and All work have started to feel similar lately. (Good catch! You were onto something.) That’s because we’re preparing to merge List and All work views, creating one powerful, unified view for managing work items: simply called List.

Our goal is simple: to give every team and every user one place to manage their work. With the flexibility, performance, and accessibility you expect from Jira.

What’s changing?

We’re bringing the best of List and All work:

  • Grouping by more fields
  • ✅ Hierarchy support
  • ✅ Inline editing
  • ✅ Simple reparenting
  • ✅ Conditional formatting

What’s in it for you?

  • 🧠 Less context switching: No more flipping between views to find the right info. Just manage all your work items from one place.
  • More capability: Get all the power of List and All work combined, such as more filtering and export options.
  • 🌏 Accessible for all: Built to support all teams and all users, no matter your project type or ability.
  • 📊 Performance-first: A faster, more consistent experience, especially for larger projects.

What’s next?

You can start trying out the new improvements today in All Work and in the meantime, we’re focused on delivering the final few improvements and planning for the official merge.

You don’t need to wait. Test the new view today by simply navigating to All Work and help us shape the future of work in Jira.

This is a step toward simplifying Jira and making it work better for you, your team, and your workflow. We’re excited about where this is heading, and as always, we’d love your feedback. Let’s make this one view the best one yet.

Thanks for being part of the journey,
The Jira Cloud team

This is great, @Tanya Maddalena

I wish there were an Archive functionality within the "Bulk operations toolbar" (https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-85101). Currently, it is only possible to delete via the toolbar. CleanShot 2025-08-15 at 15.48.16.png

Perhaps like "Watch options", it can be merged into one Archive/Delete button.

Kind regards,

Milad

Quite awaited a change. It's been a struggle to explain the differences between "All work" and "List" views and why you should use one over the other. We've been saying that these two would probably merge (most reasonable way forward), so I'm happy I can say this will be rolling out 😄

Now if we can create more than one List, that would be great :)

I know some people are using the List for team for showing what is in the Jira space and the All work to show what has been assigned to the team. This way they have separation of what is in the Jira Space and what is coming from outside the Jira Space.

So, if we can have more than one list, that would be great. Or if we can have multiple filters in a shortlist... but then we are basically having the filter function here :)

This is needed! That list view confused the heck out of users due to how differently it worked.

Will the new "List" tab under a project auto-filter to show only results from the project it is under as per the current "List" view?

Although it's not something I get confused with after 22 years of using Jira, I've observed a number of novice users who search for work via the "All Work" tab under a project and get confused when they see work from another project show up in the results.  Having the project name clearly visible on the screen had them intuit they'd only see results from their project. The users intuited that they would only see results from many projects when searching via the search bar.

This UX issue was made worse with the new navigation UI, as before that it only existed with Business Projects that used to use that structure.

This is awesome Tanya. Merging the two views will make things much clearer and the new capabilities are great additions!

I want to take the opportunity for a reminder for customers who are looking even beyond what the powerful new merged list view offers at this point. If you are open to solution from the Atlassian Marketplace, there is an even more advanced table view available. The sheet view provided by the app that my team and I are working, JXL for Jira.

Some features that might have you consider using JXL in addition the list view:

  • Saving as many separate lists as you need, in so-called sheets
  • Managing and restricting who can view or edit these sheets
  • Copying and pasting between multiple cells at once (think Excel)
  • Multiple customisable grouping and hierarchy structures, even based on work item linking
  • Field sum-ups across levels
  • Viewing thousands of work items at a glance and collapse/expanding their levels centrally
  • Smart columns with calculations and surfacing hidden work item-related data
  • History columns showing time in or between statuses, etc.
  • Freezing, hiding and redacting columns
  • Logical operators and regular expressions in column filtering, table search, and text conditions
  • Conditional formatting with 100 colours
  • Storing all these advanced features and preferences in shareable views
  • Dashboard gadget
  • Formulas and scripting (coming soon)
  • Sheet templates (coming soon)
  • and much more
