I have 1 project with 5 boards using Simplified Workflow.
My project has a different workflow for each issue type. e.g. story, sub-task, risk.
I wish to simplify the issue transitions for one of my boards. At the moment each issue has to progress through many transitions before reaching Done. I wish to have fewer transitions for one of my boards (e.g. Planning, In Progress, Review, Signed Off, Incomplete, Archived) transitions for each issue type instead. Is this possible?
Hi @Hine - Just to clarify, workflows are associated with Issue Types and Projects. The statuses inside the workflow are then mapped to a board. So just changing your columns on your board will not change the number of transitions you have to go through.
You will need to modify the workflow associated with the Issue Type for the board that uses that. As a side note, you cannot have multiple workflows for the same Issue Type on the same project.
The workflow in your screenshot looks very linear, so if you remove a status on your board, then you will not be able to move the issue through the columns by dragging it.
Did that answer your question?
Thank you. Your answer is what I suspected but wanted to get others input. The Issue Type workflow for the project should not be modified
To solve this problem, I think I will need to have the board on another project with the appropriate issue type workflow. What do you think?

Hello Hine,
If I understand your question correctly, this is absolutely possible. Go into the board configuration and then go to Columns. As you can see in the board below, I have 3 columns and 3 statuses. Delete the column you dont want and then the status will be unmapped.Once the columns you dont want are deleted, you will see all the unmapped statuses in the right hand side.
You should then be able to drag the statuses to the columns that you want and your board should only display those columns. You can also leave statuses unmapped, but keep in mind that they wont show up in the board.
Hope this helps! If not let me know how I can help.

Thanks for your response Edwin.
I previously tried your solution but it did not work. The issue type I have is set with it's own workflow which cannot be changed.
