He can't see his Business Unit field in the Epic screen even though he just added that field to his screen.

There are two things you need to verify.
1. Business unit field enable the global-level project or specific project. if it enables any specific project, Please include your project also. please enable see the below image for your reference.
2. Once you enable the project level after that please add that field to the screen scheme level

Are you using Jira Cloud or Jira Server/Data Center?
Who is "he"?
How was the field added to the screen? Did an administrator add it to a Screen in that is part of the Issue Type Screen Scheme for Epics in that Project?
Screen images would be help showing us what the users sees in their "Epic Screen" and the screen that was used to add the field.
