Studying for ACP-300 exam through "Getting more from Jira Software" course, I've come across with the following practice question:

You have set the tracking statistic to none. Which of these statements is true?

a. Burndown charts are not available to you as there is nothing to burndown

b. The Remaining field is not shown

c. You can't log time against a story

d. The estimation unit that you set is used by the burn down chart

  • The answer according to Atlassian: b, c and d.

Exploring Jira, I am actually able to log time against a story regardless of user type. Does anyone have any clue about it?

This feels like a question that might have gone through too many reviews which have mangled it.

a) is correct

b) and c) are wrong because you can still record time and estimates even if they're ignored by a board

d) has turned into a Schrödinger's answer.  The estimation statistic IS used by the board technically.  The board sees "none" and then does nothing, so you can, at the same time, say that the estimation statistic is NOT used by the board.

This is actually the reason why I've posted this question because I do have the tracking statistic set to none. Thank you for the link @Anil Jaising, but I've read it a couple of times including cloud and server versions.

It's important to mention that I've also created users with different permissions and all of them can log time against a story.

The question is a little misleading.  You can, indeed, log time against a story when you have selected "None" for the tracking statistic.  However, you won't see it appear in the issue detail because there is no Remaining field there.  Also, the time tracking graph will not track Logged vs. Remaining for the same reason.  See screenshot below:

It makes sense to me @jmoritz. Thanks.
