AD-groups via LDAP: How many nesting levels are supported?

We use a LDAP-connected AD to administer users and groups. Our users are organized in groups which in turn are nested in several levels (it-support>it>jira-it-projects>jira-appaccess for instance). But it seems JIRA supports only one level of nesting: users in "it-support" are not visible in "jira-appaccess" in JIRA. Is that true?

I have multiple levels of nested groups in my AD connected directory, and it works fine.

Make sure that you have "Enable nested groups" Set under Advanced settings in your User Directory configuration in jira.
