AIO Calculated Field: Count distinct values in a specified field?

As a product manager, I have included [client name] as a field on all Jira issues, so that I can easily see which tickets are of interest to a particular client. The [client name] field is a multi-select pick list that we (dev) maintain to ensure consistency. I need the ability to count the number of distinct [client name] values associated with a given issue, so that I can easily sort my AIO report to bubble issues that impact the greatest number of clients to the top. Any ideas?

Hi Brooke,

I am wondering if you might be able to create a Dashboard and add a Two Dimensional Issues gadget to it. Then use Key for one axis and [client name] for the other axis. Not sure if that would give you want you want or not.

Hi John,

That was a great idea and I thought it might work, but I ran into 2 issues with the approach. [Key] was not available in either axis (which I found strange) and even if it where, it looks like I would have gotten distinct columns for each [client name] rather that a total count of the clients attached to each issue. Thanks for the response though!

You might try just as a test:

Create a custom single line text field and copy in the Key for a a handful of issues. Then use the new custom field as one of the axis and see what you get.  :-)
