We're using ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash Kibana) to monitor our applications. There's an option to use APMs to feed application info into elasticsearch however I've not yet found any clear guidance on installing an APM alongside the Atlassian apps. The Oracle tomcat APM agent documentation is quite dense and I'm not convinced it's actually the Thing We Need. I've found info on pms that are specific to other monitoring apps (new relic for instance) but I'd imagine they only work with that monitoring tool.
Does anyone have experience with this and can make suggestions?
Hello @Graham Horsman
There was a talk this year at the Atlassian summit discussing the architecture of ELK with Atlassian apps.
Here's the link
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ2pyS6aTpM
It contains most of the architecture and setup related info which you need.
Basically beats framework is being used to feed logstash which transforms the data and feed it to the Elastic cluster and Kibana then displays the charts which you can easily configure.
