ASC/DESC ordering not working

I'm using a scripted field to calculate two number fields, one of which is scripted itself and divide them against each other to produce a total. 

Scripted Field / Custom Field = Scripted Field order by DESC

However, when I try to order the total column, 0's appear above the totals, which are larger, and the actual numbers themselves are not sorted by size. Anyone got any tips for what I should be doing to sort this?

You may need to change the search template. Go to custom fields, find your field, and select edit. Change the search template to Number Searcher, and then run a re-index.

I've seen this before where it can be fixed by editing the issues.  Try and do a bulk edit on all issues that have the scripted value, (just make a minor change to all, maybe adding a comment), when you save the changes the ordering should work.
