I created a Jira automation called Template to test some logic that I was thinking of using in my automations. The logic works as I would like and now I would like to add this logic to many of my other Jira automations. Is there a way to copy & paste from the Template to my other automations? Perhaps an ability to merge two automations?
Hi @Bill Glynn
You can export your Jira automation rules to json format by clicking on ... button and then Export.
Then you can merge rules outside of Jira and import back to Jira. You will need to understand the logic behind json structure though.
Export/import documentation can be found here.

Hi @Piotr Zadrożny _Eyzee_ I should have mentioned that I know the export/import method exists, but a bit beyond my competency level at the moment. Thanks for answering and for the link to the doc.

If you created the automation within the global automations, then you can copy it and from there configure it to work in "Single Projects" assigning the project where you want to apply it.
If you created this automation within a project and want to replicate it to another, it is not possible to perform this type of copy.
You can only perform automation copies within the project itself. In that case, you will need to recreate the automation within the other projects.
Was the automation you are referring to created globally or within a project?

Hi @Fernando Eugênio da Silva I created the automations within a single project. I'm trying to copy portions of one automation into another (existing) automation. I know I can export it into JSON, merge in Notepad (or similar) and then reimport, but my JSON skills are evolving 😂, so I was hoping there was another way. Thanks for replying though!
