I am looking for the ability to hide fields from certain users groups within JIRA. I know there is no field level security out of the box that allows this functionality, however is there workarounds to this,
e.g;
-using SubTasks which can only be created or viewed by certain users/groups?
-Transitions only certain users can go through (Although I believe changes to these fields would be viewable within the history field)
Hi @Steven Lloyd ,
OTB you won't really be able to achieve this, and Atlassian won't implement it due to the field architecture of jira... https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-1330
There are apps in the marketplace that add this funtionality however they are not free and I am not sure if they would fully fit your requirements:
Transitions you could limit to certain users (https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver0713/working-with-workflows-964983645.html), but that does not solve the viewablilty of fields.
Cheers
Merle
