Ability to show Issue ID with Summary in separate field

Dmitry Andrejev April 1, 2020

Hello Community!

Is there a way to show Issue ID and Summary formatted together as "GDT-361 - Move Facility field on Task Add / Edit form" on the Issue screen, perhaps as new text/read-only field?

Please see the example of what I am looking for attached below

In other words, if I can have this shown / updated automatically when Issue is created or updated.

The goal is to be able to quickly select & Copy/Paste "GDT-361 - Move Facility field on Task Add / Edit form" so it can be inserted into Commit dialog. Even better alternative would be to have a shortcut or a custom button that copies this into the system buffer so we can paste into the IDE commit dialog.

Is there a way to write a custom Macro or something - I would appreciate if you send me in a right direction with this.

We user Server version of JIRA

Hello @Dmitry Andrejev

Thank you for reaching out.

I understand you are trying to automatically copy the values of two fields into another field of the same issue when the issue is created. Is that correct?

Unfortunately, It is not possible to reference field values in other fields of Jira issues. This feature was requested in the past, however, our developers have decided not to implement it due to the low number of requests:

Reference issue fields in other issue text fields

That being said, you will need to use a third-party app to achieve this functionality on Jira server, as Automation for Jira.

using the mentioned app, you can create a rule to automatically add the values of any fields into another by using smart values, just like displayed in the screenshot below:
