Does anyone know if it is possible to set the start and end dates of a complete project? Regardless of the start and end dates of the issues inside that project, I need to define information about the project itself, is there a way?
thanks
Hi Maria,
Projects in Jira really relate more to a team or a product and not a traditional project. If you work to work like that, you should use Epics for your project work in Jira. Then you can add Start and End dates to it.

Hi @Noelí Fusco ,
I'm Fede Baronti from Deiser. Nice to meet you.
As @Trudy Claspill says, there are no fields at Project level for the Start date and End Date in Jira.
But Projectrak (3rd party app) will allow you to set a Start and End date for every project, plus more fields (on the project level) that will allow you to track your projects (Status, priority, etc). I suggest you try it out, and if you have any questions about it, just let me know.
Hope this helps!

Gracias a vos!

Hello @Noelí Fusco
There are no fields at the Project level for Start Date and End Date.
How would you want to use that information? Would you need to display it somewhere or want to be able to filter based on it?
You could create a custom issue type name "Project Info" and set the Start Date and End Date for that issue as a method to record the overall project start and end dates.

Thanks for your answer Trudy! yes i already created a custom issue for the Project info, but we need to see all our projects info, the start dates, end dates, current statuses of each and if its posible, the capacity of resourses. The idea is to be able see the big picture of the portfolio of projects we are working on.-
Thanks

In that case I would recommend that you look at portfolio/project management tools. There are several available from the Atlassian Marketplace. Or if you are willing to upgrade to the Premium plan you can get the Advanced Roadmaps feature built into Jira.
