Accounting field type for properly displaying budgets

We have a use case, where we need JIRA issue to have a custom field storing estimated budget. For this purpose we used a Number field type, which is working fine, unless the budget comes with .00 for cents (e.g. 65.03 comes out as we need it, but if it is 65.00 - the trailing zeros are dropped). This creates a confusion with the Accounting team - as all the numbers need to look consistent.

Is there a way to setup a number field or any other numeric field type so that it does not drop trailing zeros (similar to what Accounting format does in Excel)?

NB: single line text does not do the trick, as its content is not treated as a number, thus not allowing proper search and math operations.

Did you ever find a way to resolve this issue? I'm guessing some DB tweaks could work, but also feels like overkill.

Thank you for your response, however for our case it is an overkill, we just need one field to keep its trailing zeros on screen.
