Hello community,
I was showing a new team member around our scrum boards the other day from the active sprints view.
I was sharing screen and they told me that theirs looked different. My Active sprints view only shows issues currently assigned to an in progress sprint, which makes sense, but their "Active" sprints view showed active sprint issues at the top with a collapsible section at the bottom labelled "everything else" and when they clicked it, they could see issues in inactive sprints.
I have looked to see if either of us have settings on that would make our views different but it does not appear that we do.
This mostly matters because I am responsible for teaching new users how to use our boards, and if my view is different, it can be confusing to the learner...and to myself.
The most convenient solution would make my view match theirs with a collapsible "everything else" section at the bottom and would apply to all users so that everyone sees the same thing. How do I do this?
Thank you for any feedback.
Hello @Aislin Percival
My first suggestion would be to ensure you are both looking at the exact same board. Don't look just at the name of the board, but also look at the URL and confirm that it has the same numeric board ID in it.
Next I would ask if you have the same Swimlane/Group By option selected. The "Everything Else" grouping is a place to show the issues that don't match to any other swimlane. In a Scrum board the Active Sprints view will show only issues that are in active/started sprints. I highly doubt that you user is seeing issues from not Active sprints if they are truly looking at an Active Sprints board.
If you have confirmed that you are looking at the same board and have the same Swimlane/Group By setting, then I would start asking you to provide screen images of what you see and what they see so that we could dig into it more.
Thanks Trudy.
They had Group by set to Stories. Good tip.
Still don't know why theirs defaulted to group by stories when they had never visited the board before while mine defaulted to have no group by option selected...but as long as I know the cause and can explain it, then we will be fine.
