Active user but cannot access

Osama Al-Areky February 7, 2024

Hello,

There is an active user in my project, but Jira says he is not a Jira Software user. That is funny and strange. How is not a Jira software user when in the users menu it shows it as active user !!!?

Hi Osama,

I am sorry that the answer you got before was misleading - it was generated by an AI that has no understanding of your question or Atlassian software.

Jira licences are not assigned to people, the licence goes to the server and simply says "you can have up to X people with the rights to use this product".  Jira is a bit more complex than others, in that there are four products a user might be able to use, with each having their own licence limits.

In this case, your user has been added to the list of users who may use one or more of the products, but they have not been granted access to Jira Software.

As a site admin, you need to go to admin.atlassian.com, find the user's account, and add them to the Jira Software product.

If Jira is indicating that a user is not a Jira Software user despite being listed as an active user in the users menu, there could be several reasons for this discrepancy:

  1. License Assignment: Check if the user has been assigned a Jira Software license. In some instances, users may be listed in the users menu but not have a specific product license assigned to them. Ensure that the user has an active Jira Software license assigned to them.

  2. Product Access: Even if a user has a Jira Software license, they may not have access to all features or projects within Jira Software. Check the user's permissions and project memberships to ensure they have appropriate access rights to Jira Software features and projects.

  3. User Management Settings: Review the user management settings in Jira to ensure that the user is properly configured with the correct product access and permissions. It's possible that there may be misconfigurations or restrictions in the user management settings affecting the user's access to Jira Software.

THANK YOU
