Can you share with me the JQL to tell me on average, over a certain time pattern (last three months), for a story estimated at "x" what was the actual time the story took to complete from To Do through Done?

Hi @Matt Boon  👋

Welcome to the community!

I guess Time Between Statuses (developed by my team) will be an option for you. Add-on  measures connections in the workflow, through a transition time in specific issues so you can calculate certain time between statuses.
To detail the calculation conditions you should

  • select the first/last transition to/from status

Add-on has a 30-day free trial version and free up to 10 users.
Please, let me know if you have any questions

Hope it helps 😌

Hi @Matt Boon and welcome to the community!

This is not something that can be accomplished through JQL.  However, if you want to gauge how much time say, a 5-point story typically takes over a time period, you have a couple options with dashboard gadgets:

  • Time To Resolution
  • Time In Status

The underlying filter would have JQL like this:

Project = YourProject AND "Story Points" = 5

The gadgets will allow you to adjust for desired time period.

Hi @Matt Boon
Welcome to the Community!

If the problem of finding the right JQL (perhaps a different one) is still relevant to you, look at this article. There, all JQL work for JSM.

However, if you are okay with using third-party apps, I recommend you try the 30-day trials of those add-ons that have already been recommended to you. They are usually more intuitive and most manageable for users.

At least I'm sure about the Time in Status add-on and SLA Time and Report for Jira developed by our company.

Hi @Matt Boon

Welcome to the community !!

A mktplace app can help you to get this data.

You can try out our add-on

Time in Status Reports

With the app you can group your statuses to define your own cycle/resolution time

Disclaimer : I work for RVS, the vendor for this app

Hi @Matt Boon

As @Mark Segall stated, you can't via JQL.

The question you are asking is a real BI related one.

Depending where you want to see the information or the BI tool your company might use, you would need an app to do BI related things in Jira or to transfer the date out of Jira and into a BI app.

In BI you would be able to accomplish the request you have.
