Hi all,
I know it is simple to spin up a Confluence SPACE when creating a Jira project, but we have a "Project Charter" Confluence doc template, and I would like to create an instance of that in a specific space (NOT a space associated with the Jira project).
Is there a way to do this, even if there is some scripting/programming involved? I assume using Jira Cloud limits us considerably...
Thanks for any info!
Chris
Hi Chris,
Welcome to the community!
I do not believe that this is actually possible even in data center as even in data center spaces tend to get tied to projects not pages. Confluence and Jira are designed to work on a space/project basis in regards of communication between one another.
My personal suggestion would be to evaluate if you actually need the projects you are creating in Jira and using something like components or labels or something else to break work up in a project if for new projects you can't justify creating an entirely new space in confluence.
If it's still something you want to pursue you maybe able to develop something with Forge: https://developer.atlassian.com/platform/forge/
However this seems like a good time to evaluate how Jira is being used and asking the questions to your users what they are trying to do in said new spaces etc. The reason being is if Jira or Confluence aren't being used correctly now, as the tools scale, it becomes harder and harder to manage or even fix.
Hope this helps!
Best,
Clark
Hi Clark,
Thanks for the info. We are a consultancy, so each engagement is a Jira project, but I do not want to proliferate Conf. spaces. We consolidate all of our client info in a single space, and thus the desire to create our Project Charter within it.
I will investigate building something, otherwise, we can continue doing it by hand, but the automation would be nice.
Cheers,
Chris
