Hi,
We are running Jira Service Management 5.4.11. As I understand by reading different threads here there have been a feature which automatically adds a person who is @mentioned in a comment as a watcher.
Do anyone know if it should work in the version we have now or if the feature has been removed? If it has been removed, is there an alternative way to solve this by using Jira automation?
I think the previous community post from Bill Sheboy might guide you to implement this
The post is based on cloud, but it should apply to server/dc as well.
Do keep in mind that this will only work for licensed users, as you use JSM Customers are not licensed so this wil not work form them.
First thing, I am using Jira Cloud and not Server version currently, and so cannot validate my suggestion...
Have you tested if an automation rule action of Manage Watchers can add a watch from a smart value list with Jira Server?
If it can, you could try writing a regular expression with the match() function to extract the mentions, and then add the watchers directly.
Kind regards,
Bill

Hi, this is not a working solution for Jira server because "Create variable" is not enabled in that version.
