Hi community,
We are running Jira Server 8.6 and would like to be able to add descriptions to select list options, resulting in something like the image below:
The reason for this is that the select list options will be document identities and a description would make it much easier for the user to choose the correct ID, without checking a seperate spreadsheet to know which one to choose.
Any ideas how to achieve this?

You can to edit the options for the drop down in admin -> issues -> custom fields -> your field -> configure, adding your descriptive text after the code string that is the existing option.

That way the description becomes a part of the option and we would like to avoid that to reduce cluttering when viewing issues and on exports. Hence looking for some kind of descriptive help text only showing when picking an option.
Sorry for being unclear about this last part in the first post, about only showing when picking an option. Any way to achieve this behaviour?
