Add field sprint

Silvia Pumar July 26, 2022

Hi!

I have a Kanban project where I’ve created a Scrum board.

I’d like to have the field “sprint” available in my tasks.

However, when I create a task and click on “show fields”  - “All fields” the field Sprint is not listed (and that’s why I cannot add it).

Is it because the project is Kanban?

 Thanks

You are right.  Kanban doesn't have the timeboxes that Scrum does.  You don't need or want a sprint in Kanban.

Hello @Silvia Pumar

Welcome to the community.

Are you working with a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project? It will say at the bottom of the navigation pane on the left.

If you originally created your project as a Kanban project, then Jira automatically did not include the Sprint field on the issues screens because Sprints are not used in the Kanban methodology.

For a Company Managed project If you want to use the Scrum methodology for the project, and also be able to see the issues in a Kanban board, that is supported. Or if you want to manage some of the issues in the project with Scrum and Sprints while managing others with Kanban that is also possible.

A Jira Administrator will need to update the Screens used by the project so that they include the Sprint field.

It is not currently possible to use both Scrum and Kanban for a Team Managed project.

Could can we update the Screens used by the project?

Thanks!
