I added a new user to one of my JIRA projects and set her up with "Developer" role however after an hour she still can't access the Project.

It still doesn't work. We've waited 2 hours this time.

From your project navigate to project settings, then notifications.

Look for the Browse Projects permission, to the right there will be a list of users, roles, and user groups that have access to the project.  The user you want to grant access should be included in one of those items listed.

Ideally you have browse projects setup to be accessible by one or more project roles, then you grant users via adding them to the project role.

Dont wait 2 hours to check! it should be instant if it works. :)

OK. I just did that.

I think if I do what you just instructed, I can remove the "User" role for her and just keep her at "Developer" role.

I'll ask when she gets back to her desk and let you know if it works.

That seemed to work.

Thanks Randy!

The access should be there immediately.

Without more information it is hard to give a suggestion.

Can she access other projects?

Can you share a screenshot of some configuration settings? (Make sure to remove sensitive content!)

I set her up as a user with no permissions to see projects. But I set her up on the Project level to access that particular project with a "Developer" role (one of JIRA's default roles). As per Randy's suggestion, I've also added her as a "User" role. I'll give it a few minutes and check again. We've read on the JIRA instruction pages that sometimes it takes a few minutes for changes to be applied.

Check your permission scheme for the project.  The default schemes are pretty bad and if i recall you need to add them to both User and Developer project roles to give access if using the default schemes.

It still doesn't work. Any other suggestions?
