Added components to a project, but cannot add components to issues

Dustin_Weber October 24, 2018

I have added components to the project settings page of a project, but when I edit or create a new project, the component field is not visible.  The Component field shows when I'm viewing the project, but it's not editable for me in any way (I am the administrator).

Not sure how I can add components to an issue at this point?

Hello,

Did you add the Component/s field to the create/edit/view screens of that project? It seems like the field is missing from the screens.

Do you mean from the

System Default Field Configuration ?

Hi, I mean screen schemes of the project. See below screenshot:

Selection_107.pngYou need to add Component/s field to the screens, for example here to KP: Kanban Default Issue Screen.

Ah! I understand it now.  Apparently I don't have access to make these changes even though I am an administrator.  I'll have to ask the system admin to enable this I think.  Thank you!

It might be because of this: even though you are an administrator, if you don't have permissions over the project, you can't see these configurations. But you should be able to add yourself to the project's roles by navigating through Jira Administration > Projects on the right upper corner of Jira.

Happy to help :)
