Adding User Directories to both Jira and Confluence?

Systems_Department January 14, 2019

I am using Jira Internal Directory for Jira.  But for confluence I cannot login using the same user and password.

For confluence I have Atlassian Crowd setup for Remote JIRA Directory.  Synchronisation failed.

What would be the application name? would just ip or my jira server work?  What is the Application password? where can I find this?

Thanks

The application name in this case is set within Jira's User Server settings.  Jira can be setup to act as a User server for other applications like confluence. When you do this, for each connection that you allow you need to define an application name, password, and IP Addresses that are permitted to connect to Jira.

You can find these settings if you are a Jira System admin by going to the Gear Icon -> User Management -> Jira User Server or$JIRAURL /secure/admin/ConfigureCrowdServer.jspa

More details on setting up Jira for this can be found in Allowing connections to JIRA for user management.  If either Jira or the Confluence application have recently changed addresses for example, it could cause this configuration to break in the way you have described.

I hope this helps.
